Design is the flow of understanding.

I'm Marriam, a Product Designer and Researcher with 4+ years of experience and a background in Communications, where I first learned that great design is really about the flow of understanding between a product and the people using it.

I'm especially drawn to the research side of design, uncovering why people behave the way they do, what frustrates them, and what they actually need beneath what they say they need. That curiosity has shaped how I work: at the University of Toronto, it meant building a facilities platform from scratch for 200+ buildings, grounded in interviews, card sorting, and usability testing rather than assumptions. At Sangoma, it meant redesigning the login and SSO experience for 2.7 million users, where a single confusing step or unclear error message could lock real people out of their accounts, so every detail had to hold up under real-world pressure.

I bring that same rigor into every project, using whatever research is possible within real constraints, alongside data, usage patterns, and product metrics, to make decisions that are grounded rather than guessed.

I'm currently focused on finding a team where my work has real, visible impact, building products people actually enjoy using.
